4-year-old Grayhound Preschool

4-year-old preschool is a free program paid by the State of Iowa.

Benefits:

  • Follows Iowa Quality Preschool Program Standards
  • Uses Creative Curriculum — Classrooms structured around 11 interest areas: blocks, art, library, discovery, sand and water, music and movement, cooking, outdoor activity, computer technology, dramatic play, and toys and games.
  • A licensed teacher who is responsible for designing & implementing effective learning environments using instructional strategies to enhance children’s learning.
  • A minimum of 12 hours per week of quality preschool instruction.
  • High program and learning standards
  • Appropriate adult-child ratio of 1:10
  • Utilizes Teaching Strategies GOLD for assessments

General Information:

  • Classes meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday either in the morning or afternoon for 3 hours
  • Class sizes are limited and will fill quickly
  • High Standards — the BCSD Grayhound Preschool implements the Iowa Quality Preschool Program Standards.
  • Community collaboration — programs provide family involvement opportunities such as home visits, family nights, and conferences.

3-year-old Grayhound Preschool

This is a tuition program with scholarships available.
